On-line travel firm Opodo has announced it has signed a deal with the UK operations of US giant AIG to provide travel insurance for its customers.

The boom in on-line travel bookings has seen a rise in the number of customers using the web to plan their trips and Opodo’s head of tours, Chris Roe, says that travel insurance is now an increasingly important part of the travel firm’s on-line portfolio.
