American Re has officially changed its name to that of its parent company Munich Re.

The reinsurer – the largest of Munich Re’s subsidiaries across the globe – will now be known as Munich Reinsurance America Inc. Its holding company name has also been changed to the Munich Re America Corporation.

It will continue to operate across the US market as a separate entity. The names of American Alternative Insurance Corporation (AAIC) and The Princeton Excess and Surplus Lines Insurance Company (PESLIC) will not change.
