AIG Europe has been appointed as travel insurance provider for bmi. The insurer said sales will be initially provided via a standalone facility, accessed from the airline's website and the company plans to integrate the sale into the flight booking path in the future.

Jonathan Cooper, vice president of travel at AIG Europe, added: “bmi has a history of innovation and we are pleased to be appointed as travel provider. We look forward to working together to offer a flexible, fully interactive insurance proposition.”

bmi commercial director, Adrian Parkes said: “Travel insurance is an important extension to our online offering.
